Shoot & BBQ:

Every month we have a "Shoot & BBQ" out at Derby Dam (Exit 36), which is approximately 16 miles East of Sparks on I-80. This is open to all Reno Krav Maga members and any guest that they may want to bring out with them. Cost is $10.00 which covers all the food and drinks for the BBQ portion of the day. Each individual is responsible for bringing their own guns and ammunition. The shoot starts at 8:00 am and runs until approximately 2:00 pm. This has proven to be a very fun event and is looked forward to each month by everyone.

Night Shooting:

Starting in September 2010, we will be going out and shooting in the evening time one Thursday evening each month instead of having our regularly scheduled class at the school. We will meet out at Derby Dam where we have our monthly Shoot & BBQ, at 6:00 pm and will shoot until approximately 9:00 pm. At this time I don't have any plans on having any type of BBQ during this event. However, if the students are interested in having that as well, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Afternoon Shooting:

Starting in September 2010, we will be going out and shooting in the afternoon one Wednesday each month instead of having our regularly scheduled class at the school. This is being held primarily for the students who are unable to attend our monthly Shoot & BBQ due to conflicting schedules. However, all Reno Krav Maga members are welcome to attend. The exact location has not been secured at this time, but we will be starting at 12:00 noon and will shoot until approximately 3:00 pm. I will post the exact location when I have it confirmed.

Crossroads of the West Gun Show:

In December 2010, Reno Krav Maga will once again be having a table at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show, which is being held at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center across from the Atlantis Casino. Come on down and talk with Shawn or one of the other Reno Krav Maga members and see for yourself what Reno Krav Maga has to offer. Tickets to get into the gun show usually run $9.00 or $10.00 for all day and just a couple of dollars more to attend both days.

Women's Self-Defense Seminar:

The basic women's self-defense & basic introduction to Krav Maga course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to begin rudimentary hand-to-hand combatives and self-defense training. However, it should be fully understood that this is merely a basic introductory course and that participation in a regularly scheduled on-going program is recommended in order to increase the individual students ability to effectively defend themselves should the need arise. Please click here for more details!

Student Testing:

Traditional Krav Maga does not have a formal ranking system. However, if used correctly, a ranking system is very beneficial to the student as it gives them a tangible goal to strive for and gives them a sense of accomplishment when they persevere through the arduous testing process in order to achieve their next rank. Testing in Krav Maga is not for the faint of heart and is a very grueling process. However, the end results are well worth the time and effort!

Testing for students is held periodically and is usually held during regular class times. However, as the student advances, the length of time it takes to complete testing to the next level increases. Therefore, after a student advances so far, then testing will have to be held on either a Friday or Saturday in order to allow for enough time for the completion of the testing process. Advancement in rank is entirely up to each individual and is well earned. Just ask any of our current members and they will be more than happy to explain to you how testing is conducted and how you earn your rank.
